This is unnecessary and actively harmful to our city. The mathematical justifications are unsound (a linear regression with an r^2 value of less than .6 confers no correlation) and therefore do not justify additional parking at the expense of shade trees and permeable surfaces. All this would mean is less shade, worsened urban heat island effects, a hindrance to walkability, an incentive for more cars, and the passing along of parking costs to consumers in the form of inflated product prices.
