While I lament the cost increases for these improvements, I support making them as promptly as we're able - pricing will only continue to rise. Plus, sidewalk fixes improve comfort, access, and safety for our residents, while reducing city liability and encouraging more to use the infrastructure because it is welcoming and clearly maintained. Though not a component of this contract, it's important to keep the idea of shade features in your minds as these projects continue.
