I fully support Plantation's efforts to make development more human-centered. I look forward to seeing Midtown become more walkable and transit-friendly, and will be glad to see less traffic on the road with less parking for each new apartment complex built! I also hope to see it become a friendlier city with more affordable rent than other extremely pricey areas of South Florida thanks to this new zoning adjustment. Approve!
The housing opportunities are great. Let's focus on the less exciting part: Parking. This is alongside the other improvements because what we set aside to park our cars *could* be used for people...to live, walk, shop, and, of course, to run a business. Addressing our parking policies literally unlocks land in the parts of our city most suited to having people in them. No one looks forward to being in a parking lot. But the destination? We can create more of those. By passing this ordinance.
I'm so excited to finally see this happening in plantation! Transit-oriented development is so important for livability and makes a way bigger difference than it ever gets credit for. TOD opens up opportunities for better air quality, reduced noise, better overall population health, more affordable housing, more affordable transportation, and even more economic activity and thriving small businesses in the area. This is an awesome next step and I'm fully in favor of it.

I support this ordinance because it will lead to more affordable housing for Plantation!
I am fully in support of plantation becoming easing traffic with this ordinance passed and it bringing much more affordable housing. Plantation won't just become a great leader in housing, but an ambitious place that will be remembered across the country.
Once again, elected officials will pirouette to the positions I have advocated for years... because as usual, Aaron Nevins is the compass they pretend not to follow
.
I support this ordinance
I support this ordinance because it brings much needed affordable housing to Plantation. Eliminating parking minimums is a smart step that cuts traffic, makes better use of space, and helps the community grow in a sustainable way. Plantation has the chance to lead Broward and set a model for other cities to follow, and I encourage you to pass this ordinance.
This is a much needed revision of an outdated zoning code. I strongly support the ordinance, and suggest that the council approve it. It will bring in tax revenue, more housing for a growing population, and business, all while supporting walkability.
We support all amendments that allow for increased transit-oriented development (TOD) around the city of Plantation. BCT cannot deliver on its mandate to provide efficient and effective service to all residents of the county if municipalities do not cooperate on providing the density of housing that makes high-quality, frequent service possible. We also cannot accommodate the dire shortage of housing in fully built-out cities like Plantation without upzoning by the transit corridors.
I am thrilled to see Plantation (my hometown) taking bold steps to make the city more vibrant and walkable. Strategically aligning future development with upcoming transit improvements will help lower housing costs and reduce congestion for current and future residents of all ages and incomes.
This is so needed to bring down housing costs so our kids might actually stay here instead of fleeing the area. Thank you for your leadership on this and hopefully other cities will follow.
