I write in support of a standalone election on the PAID dissolution issue, as combining it with elections to the board will be confusing to voters.
As 25 year residents of Plantation Acres, my wife and I support a separate referendum on or before October 2026 for the purposes of the Plantation Acres residents deciding on the future of Plantation Acres Improvement District. We understand that decisions have a protocol, but it seems that this issue has been zigzagging for the past year or so and the decision should be made by the property owners without additional foot dragging.
I support the dissolution of PAID because the City of Plantation is better equipped to manage the district’s services and resources effectively. Despite significant spending, long-standing issues have not been resolved. In addition, promises made to residents have not always been fulfilled, and adherence to Sunshine Law requirements has at times been inconsistent. Transitioning these responsibilities to the City will ensure better oversight, transparency, and more efficient use of public funds.
Please support your residents with their efforts to ensure that a vote is taken and the will of the people prevails. While I believe that PAID must be eliminated, following this path as outlined in the state statutes provides the fairest option for everyone affected. There will still be plenty of time to coordinate the details (or not, should the measure fail).
PAID voted multiple times to support a referendum for Plantation Acres voters to vote on whether or not PAID should be dissolved. Two documents in the Agenda package; the 2026 Legislature and the Resolution writeup BOTH indicate a referendum on or betore October 1, 2026 however the Resolution document that requires the Mayor's signature does not reference a separate referendum with a date and I think simply adding that information to that document solves the concerns and resolves the issues.
I fully support the resolution and the decision to allow the residents of Plantation Acres the right in a standalone election and I fully support the dissolution of PAID and fully support having the City of Plantation provide these services to the residents of Plantation Acres.
I SUPPORT TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO DISSOLVE PAID AND APPROVE STANDALONE SPECIAL ELECTION.
I’m a 27 years Plantation Acres resident. Please accept and support (per FSS 189.072(2)(a)) the dissolution of PAID, and allow a stand-alone election if approved by the Legislature. Thank you for supporting Plantation Acres residents on this important public safety issue.
Sincerely,
Planation Acres Home Owner
Please support the dissolution of PAID and the stand alone special election so we can insure that the voters understand what they are voting for.
We are requesting please, that the Council hold the PAID dissolution vote as a stand-alone special election—not combined with a regular election.
Regards, Vicente & Janet Lom-Ajan
I urge the Council to support the resolution. Additionally this issue needs to be voted on by the residents of Plantation in a separate "stand-alone" election to ensure the voters have a clear understanding of the question. The relatively small cost increase of a stand-alone election is justified by the clarity a stand alone election will bring to the question. The residents deserve to have our voices heard on the matter of whether or not we want PAID dissolved.
I support the dissolution of PAID and its replacement with the services provided by the City of Plantation. This would avoid duplication of services. This should be decided by a vote in a special election and not one that would include candidates for the PAID board as this would be very confusing.
This entity needs to be shut down. We are spending too much time, money and resources to continue keeping PAID. This is our chance to get our residents to clearly understand the consequences of keeping a duplicate process for getting permits. I am completely opposed to putting the vote on the same ballot as the question of who should fill the seats of PAID. THIS IS UNFAIR. Please give us the opportunity to vote clearly.
Thank you again, for your support.
Please support the dissolution of PAID and the stand alone vote for this citywide issue if approved by the Legislature.
